Virginia "Ginny" Marie Vincent passed away peacefully, at the age of 87, on Mother's Day, May 12, 2019, at her Marbella Golf Villa in San Juan Capistrano with her daughter holding her hand. Ginny was born in Annapolis, Maryland on Jan. 10, 1932. She lived with her parents on Oahu when Pearl Harbor was bombed on Dec. 7, 1941 and has vivid memories of that experience. Her father Brig. General Walter L.J. Bayler was a Marine, and "Last Man Off Wake Island," a book by Cecil Carnes. Ginny was married at the Naval Academy Chapel to Major General Hal W. Vincent, a United States Marine fighter pilot who predeceased her exactly four years earlier. They were married for 64 years. She attended Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland, a private girls boarding school for High School and her first year in College. Jackie Kennedy was a student at the same time. Ginny was an avid golfer and Golf Champion for 7 years at El Toro Marine Base (1983-1989), and Golf Champion at Los Alamitos as well. She played golf with her friends at Marbella Country Club every Tuesday and Thursday for over 22 years through October, 2018 despite battling Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (CLL) since 1981, which transformed into an aggressive lymphoma last year. She was an accomplished artist in both watercolor and oils, and she enjoyed playing her Yamaha spinet piano, gardening, and walking her AKC Pomeranian, Princess Pooky of Mission Bells. She was extremely interested in Egyptian Archaelogy and completed a Sudoku puzzle from the newspaper every morning with coffee and attributed her sharp mind to that activity. She is survived by her only daughter, Deborah K. Vincent, 62, an attorney in Medford, Oregon; her sons, David B. Vincent 67, an airline Captain, Long Beach and Dale W. Vincent 66, an electrical contractor, Carlsbad. Her Memorial Service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122, on May 21 at 9:00 a.m.
