Mid-Atlantic Region Trustee

The son of a German immigrants – one a World War 2 POW and the other a refugee – Ingar entered the Naval Academy from New Jersey, graduating in 1989 with a letter in Football and a BS in Systems Engineering. After serving as a submarine officer on the USS Philadelphia (SSN-690), Ingar returned to USNA in 1994 to serve on the Physical Education staff and coach Sprint Football. Ingar continued his education at the University of Maryland, earning an MS in Systems Engineering in 1998 and an MBA in 2005.

Since leaving the Navy in 1996, Ingar’s career spanned several industries, from telecommunications to defense contracting, from Fortune 500 to small, and from corporate to entrepreneurial. Highlights include supporting the Missile Defense Agency as a systems engineer / program manager while at Raytheon, running his own strategic advisory firm, being a nationally read contributor to The Business Journals, and serving as the Navy Business Development Manager for 3M. Ingar is currently the Director of Defense Business Development for Motion and Flow Control Products (www.mfcp.com).

Ingar was the President of the USNA Class of 1989 from 1999 to 2019, and during those years he also served as the 80s Decade representative on the USNAAA Board of Trustees (from 2007 to 2013). Ingar returned to the USNA ’89 Board of Directors in 2023.

Ingar is married to Jean and lives in Annapolis. Their daughter Vivian is an AFROTC scholarship cadet at the University of Maryland, their daughter Sarah is a biomedical engineering student at Purdue, and their son TJ is a junior in high school and an aspiring midshipman.
