Dwight Fontilla ’88

Dwight has over 35 years of experience in large-scale project management, financial management, and acquisition due diligence and integration leadership across diverse industries and geographical regions within professional services, military, and corporate environments.

Since April 2016, Dwight has been a part of Accenture’s Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Strategy Practice, serving as a Senior Principal. In this role, he specializes in delivering end-to-end M&A services to clients, with a particular focus on integrating digital, analytical, and generative AI tools into the M&A industry.

Prior to joining Accenture, Dwight spent over 6 years leading global M&A diligence and integration activities at Cognizant Technologies Solutions. During his tenure, he designed the comprehensive Mergers and Acquisitions methodology, overseeing the diligence, integration planning, and execution for numerous acquisitions evaluations. Notably, he facilitated the closure of 20 transactions across various archetypes, ranging from captive to mega-deal models, while spearheading the creation of the organization from its inception.

From 2005 to 2009, Dwight served at Microsoft, where he led M&A due diligence and integration projects for acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures as a part of the Corporate Venture Integration team. His contributions led to the successful completion of over 10 acquisitions.

Prior to Microsoft, Dwight held positions at McKinsey & Company as an expert consultant and practice business manager for the Global Post Merger Management and Americas Organization practices. He also served as a consultant manager at Ernst & Young Strategic Advisory Services after earning his MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Following his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1988, Dwight served aboard the USS Dubuque, deployed to Sasebo, Japan, where he held roles as the Repair Officer and Ballast Control Officer. During this deployment, the ship was dispatched to the Persian Gulf to support operations in conjunction with Dessert Shield.

While stationed in Sasebo, Dwight managed maintenance and repair projects and funding as a Type Desk Officer for the five Sasebo-based ships. It was during this time that he also married his wife, Michiko.

Subsequently, Dwight and Michiko relocated to New Orleans, where he concluded his naval service at the Naval Support Activity. In New Orleans, he served in various capacities, including Disaster Preparedness Officer, Assistant Security Officer, Weapons Officer, and later as the Administrative Department Officer.

Through his diverse roles, Dwight has lived on the East Coast, Midwest, and West Coast of the United States, as well as in southern Japan. Currently residing in Redmond, Washington, with Michiko, Dwight is the proud father of one college-aged son and the owner of two Maltese dogs. He has been an active member of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Alumni Association for the past 20 years and assumed the role of Membership Trustee in 2020.
