Rugby Complex

Rugby has been played at the United States Naval Academy since 1963, and it has been a leading club sport at Navy for over 40 years.  Since 1983, Navy Rugby has qualified for the Final Four Collegiate Championships seven times and is recognized as one of the nation’s premier college Rugby programs.  Not coincidently, West Point and the Air Force Academy also field two of the nation’s finest collegiate Rugby programs. 

Today, the United States Naval Academy fields both men’s and women’s Rugby teams. The four men’s teams (“sides” in Rugby terminology) and two women’s teams provide spirited, physically demanding competition for over 100 members of the Brigade of Midshipmen.  The Navy Rugby program is committed to providing an opportunity for intensely physical athletic competition while continuing to compete at the highest intercollegiate level.  The Rugby Excellence Fund, which will be strategically directed to provide the first-class facilities, equipment, infrastructure and coaching necessary to compete at the highest levels while attracting, retaining and developing players who will become the professional war fighters of tomorrow.
