Alumni House Use Guidelines

  • Parties are permitted use of the first floor, Taproom, lawn and courtyard, weather permitting..
  • Layout of house
  • The Alumni House is handicapped-accessible, with elevator and compliant restrooms.
  • Due to noise restrictions, all events must end by 10pm.  Events may not exceed 5 hours in duration.


Alumni House has exclusive contracts with 6 local caterers and only they are permitted to provide catering at events.

Due to health regulations, food may not be served outside unless the area is tented. Sit-down dinners can be accommodated for up to 40 people inside, or for up to 140 people on the courtyard under a tent. Additional rental fees will apply.

All food must be consumed on premise and cannot be taken home afterwards.


  • Our license requires that all liquor be purchased through us. No outside liquor may be brought in.
  • Special orders of alcohol may be made through the events staff with 30 days notice.
  • Parties using the courtyard during the summer months may also have the option of a bar outside. The event staff reserves the right to move this bar inside for various reasons, such as weather, insects, etc., and does not need to notify the host in advance of such a change.


  • We will assist in determining your rental needs and provide you with a quote, if time permits. All rentals must go through the Alumni House. No outside equipment may be brought in.
  • If rental equipment is used on the courtyard, the area must be tented.


  • If decorating the doors, mantels or stairways, use only covered wire, pipe cleaners or non-damaging hooks. No nails or pins may be placed into the woodwork.  


  • Bridal cakes are placed on an antique round table in the Ballroom. This table is approximately 26 inches in diameter and best suited for a tiered cake. If using a satellite-type wedding cake please inform the event staff in advance.


  • Our permit limits us to acoustic (non-amplified) music inside the house. No music or speakers are permitted outside. DJs permitted on a limited basis. Alumni House reserves the right to determine the volume necessary to meet the permit requirements.


  • Formal photographs (those with backdrops and staged lighting) are not permitted in the Alumni House.


  • There is no parking, handicapped or otherwise, at Alumni House. Annapolis City street parking is reserved for residents.


  • All deliveries of flowers, cakes, etc., may be made a hour and a half prior to the start of the event. It is the duty of the host to inform vendors of this arrangement. In absolutely necessary, the house can be opened earlier for these deliveries at the rate of $50.00 per hour.


  • No loose petals, confetti or the like are allowed. The blowing of bubbles (or similar idea) is the only send-off permitted  All waste must be removed. 


  • Caterers provide all food service staff; Events staff provide all bar staff.  We provide an experienced Event Coordinator onsite. Wedding planners may not be present.

  • Alumni House, the Alumni Association, and its staff shall under no circumstances be liable or responsible for the loss, damage, or theft of any property or belongings of member or member's guests.

  • Member agrees that Member shall indemnify and hold the Alumni House, its affiliates, staff, agents, and representatives forever harmless from, and against, any and all personal injury, property damage, loss, expense, fine, or penalty, including legal fees, incurred by a third-party vendor contracted by Member to perform a service at the Member's event at, or in relation to Member's event at, Alumni House.
