Dear Applicant,
Apparently there is an increase of interest at serving our country and we applaud your attention to this most worthy cause.
Application to NAPS can only occur via one's direct application to the Naval Academy. The Admissions Board at the Academy determines who will best benefit from our preparation program here at NAPS to subsequently enter and graduate from the Academy.
Eligibility Requirements:
- At least 17 and must not have passed your 23rd birthday on 01 July of the
year of admission to USNA (Plebe summer).
- Unmarried, not pregnant and have no obligations of parenthood.
- U.S. Citizen (Unless authorized by Congress).
- Of good moral character.
- Be a High School Graduate
- Be scholastically, medically qualified.
- Pass USNA Physical Aptitude Examination.
The average SAT of our students is about 560 verbal and 570 math. Students who enter generally have at least four years of English, alg II, geometry, and one year of chemistry. Most students also have trig/precalc and one year of physics. Many of our students have studied calculus and a second year of chemistry.
We have students of various types that make up an average class size of 325. Nearly a third are prior enlisted personnel from the Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps The contrast between high SAT scores and low achievement grades characterizes some of our students, as well as lower SAT scores and high achievement grades. Both present a unique challenge for us, however, we've become effective at helping both types of students develop into strong learners with the skills to carry them through the Academy. Students motivated to become an officer in the military must be willing to make significant behavioral changes to improve their learning skills. Our unique environment and discipline standards are priceless assets as well.
Since 1976, all NAPS graduates who have met conduct and physical fitness standards for entry into the USNA have received appointments to the Academy. The graduation rate at NAPS since 1980 is 70%. The graduation rate of NAPS students at the USNA since the USNA class of 1984 is 78%, 1% higher than the non NAPS students at the USNA.
NAPS also prepares students for the Coast Guard Academy (since the NAPS class of 1980). Graduation rates for these institutions are also competitive.

I hope the above is of help to you. Thanks for your interest in USNA and NAPS.
We wish you the best of luck,
NAPS Administration
