A grand singing of Navy Blue and Gold by 50 some chapter celebrants
greeted Nebraska football fans as they waited to take over the SkyBox Sports
venue following our thrilling victory over Air Force. Jerry Weinstein's '53
family and friends from Air Force Academy were more subdued. We also enjoyed
having guests from a mini reunion of the 4th company of the class of '63 hosted
by Mike Blackledge.
Chapter attendees included Wendy and Jane Cosner '52, Don and Phyllis
Rohr '55, Hank and Sally Schwartz '62, Bill and Bonnie Horton '44, Maury and Pat
Hartle '44, Herb Richter '59, Rich Rice '62, David Hufmann '60, O.D. Thompson
'63, Ron Walters '63, Kip Paskewich '66, Joe McGuire '68, Scott Kraus '73, Paul
Terjale '91, and Jeff Hoaglund '94. We also welcomed Charles and Laurie Miller,
parents of Mike Miller '05; Ken and Sharon Mulder, midshipmen parents of
Garrett Mulder '06; and Laura Maness, mother of Gen Studer '08. The celebrants
from 4th Company '63 included Bill and Judy Hollenack, Ken and Doris Sanger, Ron
and Sharie Saqui, Craig and Gail Barton, Doris and Harry Salmon, Doug and Gail
Tozour, and Patrick and Maureen Wright. Also present from the Albuquerque
Balloon Fiesta were pilot Don Palen '63 from Rhode Island and crew member Dave
Moore '63 from California for the balloon Sky Drifter. Many chapter members
served as chase crew for Don Palen during the nine day Balloon Fiesta. Our final
attendee was our President, Casey Jones '60, who arrived just after our game
winning field goal.
We'll look forward to meeting at SkyBox again on the morning of December
3rd to hail our retention of the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy.

December 30th saw nearly 70 of our chapter members and guests gather at
the SkyBox to celebrate our bowl victory. We even had a pushup squad as Mid'n 4/c
Katie Bourgoine, Mid'n 2/c Aaron Romero and Mid'n 1/c and ace rifle team member
Mike Miller shared the occasion with us. Kurt Johnson '02 was also home on leave from
Lemoore NAS to join us for the big victory over our second favorite football team. We were
also glad to have Ken Fladager '68 and Tolly Toliver with us as we hadn't seen them in
a while.
Our schedule for the upcoming year has yet to be drawn up, A lunch at the Petroleum
Club and an evening at an Isotopes baseball game are sure to be on the schedule. If you haven't
received a newsletter with an announcement of events as you read this, check our web site,

As a follow up to our Army Navy game get together, a gathering of 42 members and family met again at SkyBox for the Houston Bowl.  Though the outcome didn't give us reason to celebrate, the growing chapter participation will help promote more future activities.  With a newsletter being developed to rejuvenate communications, members who have not been receiving e-mail communications are asked to provide their e-mail addresses to our secretary to facilitate quick and inexpensive news mailings.  Our goal is to rejuvenate our number of activities and member participation.

After a year of inactivity, it was great to have an Army-Navy game turnout up 50% from last year.  In addition to enjoying the recapture of the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy, we had our first business meeting in a long time, electing new officers and generating a donation for tickets to the bowl game of about $600.  We were even fortunate to receive a donation from a customer not related to us but appreciative of our enthusiasm.
In addition to the election of Casey Jones '60 as President and Herb Richter '59 as Secretary, Hank Schwartz '62 with support from his wife Salley was elected Vice President and Jennifer Hosking, daughter of George Hosking '47 remains as treasurer.
We're thankful for the work of past President Mike Petrofes '80 and relieved that his pushup squad was spared as great an effort as at last year's game.  The squad included his daughters, Cassie and Caitie, with wife Anna, their cheerleader.  Others in attendance included George Bryan '42 and his son George, aka Pat Bryan '67, Bonnie and Bill Horton '44, Jennifer and George Hosking '47, with their grandson Bryan and wife, Ivy Maglidt. Harold Smith '48, Fran and George Goodwin '48, Anna and Reed Mulkey '49 with their son Mike and wife, Barbara.
